About Preschool Power!
Preschool
Power! was created by Carey Connell, a mom
looking for ways to help her young, hearing-impaired daughter develop capability
and self-confidence before starting school. This lead her to a Montessori preschool,
where she soon realized she'd hit the jackpot for her little one.
Working as a volunteer teaching assistant, Carey saw two year olds putting on their own jackets and pouring juice; three's putting on their own shoes and socks, making and serving snacks (cleaning up afterwards); fours and fives doing more complex tasks like arranging flowers, baking muffins and taking care of a pet bird.

What especially impressed Carey was the children's serene, self-confidence
faces as they went about their classroom “business”.
These kids already knew they were the greatest thing since sliced bread without anyone having to tell them. No “I'm Special” gold stickers needed here!
Carey quickly realized that ,many parents out there had never seen this -- and the idea for Preschool Power! was born.
Carey set out two basic requirements: First, vivid and clear learn -by-example demonstrations should help young children watch and absorb on their own. Second, the programs should serve as a useful resource for parents.

Unlike any other children's video Preschool Power! would focus
on helping young children wasily develop core physical skills, self confidence
and self-reliance through activity mastery.
Borrowing from a basic Montessori principle - that older children serve as teachers and role models for younger ones -- Preschool Power! would use only young children on screen. Adults would rarely if ever appear on camera, leaving the childrenb themselves to carry the show with their own demonstrations and narration.

Before starting production Carey hired
a team of Montessori teachers to design the lessons and train the individual
children who would 'perform' them on camera.
She also used regular kids from her neighborhood and her daughter's preschool to be the on-screen “talent”. And we think this shows through in the happy, natural attitude of all the little own screen teachers. They're not little actors but kids just like you own.

all of them in a row now and has, in my opinion gained so much self-confidence
he's convinved he can do anything."
